Role Summary

As a National level Coach, you will have overall responsibility for:

  • Leading the Black Sticks Women’s programme to optimise the performance of the national team at international events
  • Continuing the development of our high-performance culture, characterized by honesty, trust, transparency, open communication and high levels of care.
  • Producing a robust and well-planned selection process as convenor of selectors
  • Working closely with the General Manager of High Performance, CEO, Board of Directors and other key stakeholders in ensuring strategic alignment with the wider Hockey New Zealand high performance system.


Desired Skills and Experience

  • Track record of coaching elite Hockey teams to success at international level.
  • Outstanding knowledge of Hockey technique and tactics, plus insight into trends and developments at international level.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing a comprehensive, holistic high performance programme for elite teams and players.
  • History of building and driving a high performance culture that reflects the country’s norms and values.
  • Successful management of internal and external stakeholder relationships toward the achievement of joint objectives and targets.
  • High performance coaching accreditation or equivalency.
