Creating Engaging Trainings: Increasing Time on Task

Jul 22, 2020
Gain insights into how the principle of Time on Task can enhance your training environment and provide players greater opportunity to learn and enjoy our game
People learn best through doing, and this is no different for our players. Creating environments where players have maximum time to practice a skill or concept is key in keeping players engaged and allowing them to explore and learn.

Time on task is a coaching principle focusing on the time players spend physically performing a skill.

When planning your training, ensure you look at the design and delivery of your session and consider how you can maximise Time on Task.

Here is a short video from Canterbury’s Community Hockey Officer Will Zhou, to explain the principle and give you some tips for planning your future session.
