In this debut episode, Sunjay chats with Chris Leslie, former Black Sticks player and long-time assistant coach of the NZ Women’s team, about the team’s most successful era. Chris shares firsthand experiences from four Olympic Games — Athens, Beijing, London, and Rio — where the team reached a world ranking of 3rd and made two semi-final appearances.
He reflects on the leadership of captains Kayla Sharland and Stacey Michelsen, the Gold Medal win at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, and the coaching philosophies of Mark Hagar and Ian Rutledge that helped shape a championship-calibre team.
