12 month Coaching Advisory Group Pilot leads to the establishment of an on-going Advisory Group for 2024 and beyond

In November 2022 the Coaching Advisory Group (CAG) 12-month Pilot commenced. The pilot focused on exploring how advisory functions may be provided to the Community Coaching Manager to support the implementation of the Community Coaching Plan and capture critical insights to support future steps following the pilot.

The Advisory Group boasted a wealth of experience, knowledge, and skills, from within and beyond hockey. The six selected members for the pilot were:

The CAG met three times in person across the 12 months, with regular online connections in-between. These meetings focused an induction for the group, diving into key topics of Diversity and Inclusion, and Workforce Planning, and wrapped up with a review of 2023 and recommendations of priorities for 2024 in alignment to the Community Coaching Plan.

Recommendations for 2024 priorities in alignment to the Community Coaching Plan included:

  • Communication Plan including Databases
  • Player Development Framework
  • Workforce Planning
  • Connected Network Managers link
  • Review of Community Coaching Plan and alignment to HNZ Strategy Connect

Following a review of the pilot, it has been determined that the CAG has provided significant value to the Community Coaching Manager, the implementation of the Community Coaching Plan, and an impact on Hockey NZ. The group will continue for an additional 12 months followed by a review of the membership to welcome new members to join in 2025.

Hockey NZ would like to acknowledge and thank the members of the pilot for their support and work, and looks forward to continuing to work with the group for 2024 and establishing the CAG as a long term support mechanism for Coaching.
