Hockey NZ Webinar: Understanding and Managing Concussions

Don't miss out on this FREE webinar with guest speakers Rachel McCann and Jason Butcher, sharing their experience and knowledge on managing concussions for Rangatahi.

Hockey NZ is excited to welcome guest speakers Rachel McCann and Jason Butcher to share their knowledge and experience on understanding and managing concussions for Hockey.


Rachel played 68 times for the Vantage Black Sticks and is currently the NZ Football Player Welfare Officer.


Jason is an internationally experienced coach and current Sports Manager and Coach of hockey at Diocesan School for Girls, Auckland.


The webinar will be facilitated by Hockey NZ and FIH Developer Jamie Carroll and supported by Hockey NZ Competitions Manager Regan Bain and Technical Manager Colin French.


The webinar will provide attendees with information about how to recognise and manage a concussion or a suspected concussive event. It will target those individuals working in the Rangatahi (Youth) space but is open to anyone interested in growing their knowledge. There is no cost to register and attend.


Anyone who is interested in the webinar but unavailable to attend is asked to complete the registration process.   • How to recognise a concussion and what to do if you suspect someone has suffered a concussion
  • What support is available for someone with a concussion and how do they return to play? 
  • What is the role of a Coach in understanding and managing a concussion?
  • What is the Hockey NZ Concussion Policy and what does it look like in action?
