Programme Overview
Hockey NZ is developing capability across our coaching community by building a network of people, Trainers, to support the development of our coaching system. Trainers will work with Hockey NZ in supporting the leadership of the coaching system and the capability build of the Developer Network. The Developer network lead the support of Coaches working with our players and umpires.
To build the Trainer Network, Hockey NZ have designed a 12 month programme in alignment to the Sport NZ Trainer Programme and the learning captured from the Hockey NZ Trainer Pilot Programme.
The programme is led by Hockey NZ and experienced mentors. The programme enables Trainers to access on-going development to grow their capability and that of the coaching system, and ultimately enhance the support of community coaches.
What is Involved?
Trainers will be part of a 12 month programme, accessing residential workshops to provide on-going professional development and support Hockey NZ in growing the coaching system. Online Meetings will be held across the year to provide regular check in points.
As a network, Trainers will work together to deliver the National Developer programme which includes residential workshops, online workshops, observation and mentoring.
All expenses incurred from the programme will be covered by Hockey NZ and remuneration available for delivery of the Hockey NZ Developer Programme.

Who Should Apply?
The Trainer Programme is designed to support a network of individuals to work together to grow their skills in the Trainer space and support the Hockey NZ Developer Programme.
Anyone applying will be passionate about growing people and growing the wider coaching system. They will be a continuous learner, supporting the development of themselves and others. It would be expected individuals would have experience across some of the following areas:
Individuals may be in full time or volunteer roles within or outside of our hockey system.
How to Apply
Applications for the National Trainer Programme are open now and will close on September 5 2021 (extended deadline!). There will be up to 12 trainers accepted onto the 12-month programme, starting in October 2021. All applicants will be contacted the by 10th September 2021.
