Express your interest NOW to Coach a New Zealand Masters Age Group team

The Trans-Tasman Challenge is back for 2023 and will be on home soil in New Zealand. The Challenge sees New Zealand and Australia go head to head across Mens and Women's Masters Age Groups. The dates of the Challenge will be confirmed shortly but is anticipated to be end of April, early May.

Hockey New Zealand is now calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) for Players, Coaches, Managers, and Selectors.

Interested in Coaching a Masters Team?

Hockey NZ are seeking expressions of interest from experienced and qualified individuals to coach the National Masters teams leading up and during the Trans-Tasman Challenge. Ideally each appointment will be for a two year period covering both the Trans-Tasman Challenge in 2023 and the World Masters Hockey World Cup in 2024.

EOI's are being requested for coaching Men and Women's teams from Over 35s through to Over 70s, working in 5 year increments.

If you are interested - make sure you submit your EOI before the closing date the 30th August 2022.

What's Involved in Coaching a Masters team?

Coaching a New Zealand Age Group Masters team is an exciting and rewarding role. Coaches will work with the countries top age group players and be part of the wider Hockey NZ Masters community to prepare and play in international competition.

As part of the role, coaches will be expected to take an active part in the two formal selection events:

  • Inaugural Masters North vs South Series: 17th and 20th of November 2022 (venue TBC)
  • National Masters Tournament 26th February to 4th March 2023 Tauranga

Final selections for the Trans-Tasman challenge will be named after the National Masters Tournament in March 2023.

Appointed coaches will receive a subsidy to assist with expenses, however the bulk of the cost will need to be covered by each respective coach.
