In 2022-23, Hockey NZ will be piloting a Coaching Advisory Group. The 12-month pilot will enable an opportunity to explore how advisory functions may be provided to the Community Coaching Manager to support the implementation of the Community Coaching Plan.
The Community Coaching Plan provides a national direction to coaching to grow the national system to have capable networks of people to lead local coach development, provide a positive experience for coaches, and better equip coaches to provide a quality experience for players.
The pilot will provide critical insights to support future steps.
What is Involved?
The Coaching Advisory Group Pilot will include up to 5 voluntary unpaid members. The group will meet 3 times over the 12-month period to provide recommendations and guidance to the Hockey NZ Community Coaching Manager for the annual priorities of the Community Coaching Plan.
The group will also assist in establishing a robust learning process to enable evidence-based decisions and application of continuous learning to remain agile in taking deliberate steps towards the vision of the Community Coaching Plan.

Hockey NZ will cover costs incurred for attendance to meetings. The first meeting is intended to be scheduled for the 19th November, 2022 in Auckland pending the availability of selected members.
Who Should Apply?
It is expected that applicants will be passionate, committed, able to work in a team, and as a collective bring a broad range of skills and experience to fulfil the group’s purpose.

The selection panel will endeavour to appoint a diverse group to capture knowledge and experience from within and outside of sport that applies to coaching.

Appointments will be made by a panel comprising Hockey NZ Community Coaching Manager, Hockey NZ Community Capability Manager, and an Independent. The term of appointment will be for one year only as part of the pilot. Please refer to the Terms of Reference for more information.
