Vantage Black Sticks Assistant Coach and Manager Roles

Hockey New Zealand is advertising for two roles for the Vantage Women's Black Sticks Women's Teams. Please find details for both roles below and further information on the links provided.


Vantage Black Sticks Women’s Team Manager


Full time management role to support the Black Sticks Women’s Team and National Squad targeting Tokyo 2021 and the Commonwealth Games and World Cup in 2022. The role will optimise the performance of the programme, working closely with the Head Coach and Head of High Performance to lead the management and implementation of holistic athlete well-being, team values, continued commitment to the Hockey NZ values; and aspirational team culture.


To be considered for this role, you will have:

  • Excellent communication skills and understanding of communication strategy
  • Attention to detail and short and long-term planning skills
  • Experience in high performing teams
  • Experience in international travel or event management
  • Financial management or operations management experience

The role of the manager is an important part of the Black Sticks and Hockey NZ organisation playing a key part in uniting the vision of the team, the manager will enjoying building strong working relationships and working with a wide group of stakeholders.

Vantage Black Sticks Women’s Assistant Coach


Full time coaching position focused on individual and team coaching, planning and monitoring, daily performance environments and contribution to the leadership, planning and development of the Women’s high performance programme overall.


To be considered for this role, you will have:

·        A detailed and systematic approach to achieving High Performance outcomes

·        Knowledge of international trends and current game developments

·        Experience of holistic athlete development in a coaching capacity

·        Experience building and managing trusted relationships with others

·        Experience and proven capability in the holistic development of athletes and programmes

·        Strong initiative and problem solving ability


To be part of the Black Sticks Women’s programme is to be part of something bigger than the role of the coach. The coach will play a key role in supporting the galvanisation of a team and organisation, they will celebrate the success of the individuals and the team.
