Association Coaching Update

May 04, 2021

Hockey New Zealand would like to share an update of the recent, current and future activity of the coaching space for Associations.

The key updates are regarding the launch of the online portal, the implementation of the National Coach Development Programme, and reminder about the Resource Hub and Coaching Newsletter.

If you have any questions regarding the coaching space or feedback to share, please do not hesitate in contacting Community Coaching Manager Nicole Youman.

ONLINE LEARNING PORTAL

The Portal went live last month. Over 250 coaches have registered, Canterbury are leading the way with 54 coaches registered followed by Auckland, Tauranga and Bay of Plenty.

Thank you to everyone who has supported the promotion of the portal. We will be working hard to ensure the portal is providing valuable support to the wider hockey community and hope to reach over 2000 individuals actively engaging in the portal by 2022.

The portal is designed to be OUR platform for sharing resources online. We welcome you to share existing resources, partner with your fellow associations or HNZ to support the creation of new resources, and provide feedback on how we can grow and further develop the portal.

Please find a few reminders regarding the portal below

  • Association Leads: There is an Association Lead private group providing resources specific to the Association lead roles. If you would like to access this group please email Nicole.youman@hockeynz.co.nz
  • Promotional Assets: Associations can access images, blurbs, links, posters to support the promotion of the portal. These are all located on TEAMS. Please contact Nicole Youman at HNZ if you need any assistance accessing these
  • What’s Available: A summary of learning outcomes of the current online lessons will be shared with associations soon and an infographic to be able to share with the community so they know what to expect. Although there is no better way to know what's on the portal than doing the lessons yourself!
  • More than Coaching: The portal aims to support the development of our people, this includes parents, administrators, officials and managers.

NATIONAL COACHING PROGRAMME

The first of five targeted delivery opportunities of the Introduction to Coaching Programme will commence this month in Canterbury.

The five targeted associations are Bay of Plenty, Canterbury, Nelson, Manawatu, Otago (TBC – lower south island)

HNZ identified Developers will facilitate the programme and capture critical insights for the nationwide roll out in 2022. Please click here for more information.

RESOURCE HUB – COACHING NEWSLETTER

The Resource Hub will be turning 1 year old in June. The Hub has become the central place for all things coaching and provides flexibility in how we can share and connect coaches with a variety of resources.

The hub is a collaborative platform for our coaching community. Please ensure you share any existing resources you believe would be valuable to our wider coaching community.

This month the Coaching Newsletter will be sent out to all subscribed coaches. The link to subscribe is on the Resource Hub. A reminder on Facebook has been posted, please share this with your community to capture any new coaches!
