VISION DRIBBLE
An introduction to moving the ball with a stick promoting listening skills and awareness of space.

WHAT YOU NEED:

- 4 cones to mark the 25m x 25m area
- 4 coloured cones as in diagram or unique objects such as a shoe or water bottle
- A stick and ball for each player

HOW IT WORKS:

Set up an area approximately 25m x 25m. Around the outside of the area place either colour cones or objects such as a shoe, wattle bottle. You will need about 4 coloured cones or objects. Each player starts with a stick and ball inside the area.

When the coach says go, the players must keep moving inside the area by dribbling a ball, trying to avoid other players. The coach then yells out a colour or an object and all the players must dribble the ball to this object as fast as they can with control. Once players reach the object they return to the middle and repeat with the coach calling out the same or different object.

COACHING QUESTIONS:

- How do you avoid other players (looking with your eyes to see other players, look for space)
- How can you keep your eyes up (consider keeping eyes up, body position, trying to keep the ball out infront and away from the feet)
- How do you keep control of the ball (keep the ball on your stick, how to stop the ball, difference between close/lose)

WAYS TO ADAPT:

- Hold up different coloured items e.g. bibs, cones instead of calling out the colour - good for vision
- Call out two objects and players must dribble to first then the second object
- Make the space bigger or smaller
- Say Close (ball touching your stick) or Loose Dribble (tapping the ball with your stick, with control) and players must start dribbling that way
