TRIANGLE QUICK HANDS
Passing and receiving with speed, vision, and awareness

WHAT YOU NEED:

- Groups of 3 players
- Approx 5m x 5m space

HOW IT WORKS:

Break into groups of 3, and have players position themselves in a triangle shape. Have the groups work through the following passing patterns at speed.

Consider running each pattern for 30-60 second intervals with a 30 second break. Repeat the pattern to allow all players to experience different roles, and if needed move the ball in the opposite direction.

A) With 1 ball; Player A is the central figure and starts with the ball. Player A passes to Player B who passes back to A. Player A then passes to Player C who passes back to A and the pattern is continued.

B) With 1 ball; All players look to pass the ball around in one direction as quickly as they can.

C) With 2 balls; Players B & C start with a ball each and look to alternatively bounce the ball off Player A in sync with each other as quickly as they can.

D) With 2 balls; passing in one direction Players A, B & C look to keep 2 balls moving at once as quickly as they can.

WHAT TO FOCUS ON:

- Footwork to prepare to receive and deliver pass
- Receiving with an open body and ball out in front to be able to make the next pass
- Awareness and vision for next pass, and communication
- Passing with speed and accuracy

WAYS TO ADAPT:

- Have groups count the number of passes in a time frame and try and improve this score
- Adjust time to create skills conditioning activity
- Adjust size of triangle to deliver pass over distance
- Vary passing to include 3D passes
- Call out changes to patterns such as change of direction or roles and have players transition whilst keeping the ball moving
