SHOOTING REPETITION SETS
Individual preparing, selection, and execution of goal shooting skills

WHAT YOU NEED:

- 3-4 Players and 1-2 GKs
- Circle area including a goal

HOW IT WORKS:

Set up two piles of balls, with one player on each pile of balls, one player starting in the circle and GK in the goal. If you have additional players/GK they can be resting.

The player in the circle will receive four passes to execute 4 predetermined shots that follow on from each other. They can play out any rebounds in the circle, but only have two touches to execute rebounds.

The player starts around the penalty stroke mark in the circle and initiates the activity by leading towards Feeder One for a pass. The player receives and executes a squeeze shot.

Feeder One then passes in a bouncy ball for the player to pick up and shoot preferably off their right foot. The player then leads laterally to receive a third ball from Feeder One to shoot a reverse shot. The player than re-leads to receive a pass from Feeder 2 to deflect into the goal.

Players then rotate around, with Feeder One becoming the player in the circle, Feeder Two moving to the Feeder One spot and the player in the circle filling Feeder Two role or if you have more numbers having a rest.

It is important the players filling the Feeder One and Two roles are alert to execute the pass off the player in the circles lead.

WHAT TO FOCUS ON:

- Early footwork and body position to be prepared to shoot
- Clear leading and cues to where the pass is wanting to be delivered
- Accurate passing
- Quick execution shooting and preparation for rebounds
- Developing specific shooting technique

WAYS TO ADAPT:

- Set up Feeder Two on the other side of the circle
- Change the predetermined shot selection based on the shots and situations you want to practice
- Mix up the types of passes and allow the player in the circle to select the shot
- Have two players in the circle, requiring players to work together to take shots, fill rebounding areas, or create deflections
