RESILIENCE GAME
Problem solving as a team under fatigue

WHAT YOU NEED:

- 12-15 Players and optional 2 GKs
- 1 Set of Bibs
- Half field space

HOW IT WORKS:

Split your group into two teams, Team A and B and set up for a half field game. If you have less than 14 players, consider using a smaller space.

Team A starts with 2 players on the side who can be rotated in and out at any time. Team B starts with all their players on the field and has no substitutions. This creates a 7v5 on the field. Keep scores and play out a half field game for 6-8minutes.

If Team A score a goal, a player from Team B must run around the outside of the field (or appropriate alternative such as complete 20 burpees), before re-entering the game. If Team A score another goal during this time, then Team B will have a second player out running or doing burpees.

After 6-8minutes stop the game. Team A immediately completes a shuttle run from the backline to the 25 yard line and back for every goal that was scored against them (but no more than 4 shuttles) or an appropriate alternate like 10 Burpees per goal.

Give the teams a quick rest, before completing another 6-8minute game, this time Team B have 2 players on the side to rotate in and out and Team A have no subs.

WHAT TO FOCUS ON:

- Utilisation of the rotations to maintain high intensity and pressure
- Closing down dangerous space to defend numbers down
- Ball and or player movement to create space and attack with additional players
- Managing fatigue, executing basic skills, passing verse carrying the ball

WAYS TO ADAPT:

- For only one GK, set up scoring zone with cones where the team with more players on the field can score by having a player receive the ball inside the zone, controlled
- Explore 8v6, 7v5 matchups
- Play 7v6 or 8v7 with only 1 player rotating in and out
- Change the consequence to best challenge the group
- Add a 30 second period where the team with less numbers can make the opposition play without a GK
