TRIANGLE CARRY RECEIVE
Carrying, passing, and receiving on the move with speed and vision

WHAT YOU NEED:

- Groups of approx. 6 players
- 3 cones per group
- Approx 20m by 20m space

HOW IT WORKS:

Break your team into groups of approx 6 players and set up a triangle as per the diagram for each group.

The ball is carried and passed around the triangle in an anti-clockwise direction in relay fashion until the group is directed to change initial direction. After receiving the ball on the move around the cone, players carry roughly half the distance towards the next cone and make a push pass to the next player.

After making the pass, the player then jogs through to the group they have just passed to, following their pass.

WHAT TO FOCUS ON:

- Early footwork to receive out in front, ball on the stick and moving
- Carrying the ball out in front on the stick to assist control, speed and vision
- Push pass on the move from in front of the body, body weight forward and using the wrists as a lever, passing off left or right foot
- Timing of the lead and pass to connect

WAYS TO ADAPT:

- Allow players to change their leads, consider starting inside the triangle and fading outside
- Change direction to clockwise to make the collection more difficult
- Blow a whistle twice to signal an immediate change of direction to clockwise
- Have athletes sprint when following their pass to encourage some conditioning
